Orchard Blog and Discussion Forum

Welcome to the interaction corner of Grow Organic Apples! Here's where you can post orchard questions to other members, get downright poetic with observations on the community blog, and create your own orchard profile.

The very first step in creating a grower profile is to indicate your interest to the site administrators. Initially we're simply keeping tabs that all participants are involved fruit growers - this means you actually have trees in the ground! - until we have a full handle on group dynamics.

Filling out "your page" is a way of introducing where you be and what you grow in the way of tree fruit to other orchardists. A member snapshot adds a nice touch in seeing who has something new to add to every discussion. Please consider using your real name as it's much friendlier to be certain who's who. Profile details can only be viewed by other member growers.

Now for a bit of clarity:

The Discussion Forum is set up to keep commentary ongoing by topic. Here's where you ask questions and delve into the nuts and bolts of orcharding. We've established more than a few categories already for topic threads. The beauty of this is that growers can completely review any orchard topic and add their own observations months later.

The Orchard Blog on the other hand is intended more for contemplation on the creative side and insightful updates of one's orchard day. That's vague definition and we'll just see where it leads, okay? You will need to visit our actual grou.ps site (groworganicapples.grou.ps) to see any and all postings on the community blog. Links to other fruit-growing blogs can be established here as well.

Fruit Wiki represents a far more ambitious project. Members can contribute their experiences to a matrix of orchard practices (ecosystem health, insect pests, disease, nutrition) featuring biological IPM, organic, biodynamic, and holistic insights in each area. All we need is a project editor to get this started!

All other workings of this interactive site are fairly straightforward. You can send messages to individual growers, share research documents, suggest great links, list events on the community calendar, and create orchard photo albums.
